On January 15, 2018, Alpha Mu Omega Chapter in partnership with Ivy Endowment, Inc. will join in with thousands of members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.  to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

While our focus will be on January 15th, we will have a few opportunities for volunteers leading up to the event to prepare for the big day.  We hope that you and your families/friends (during the public opportunities) can help us make an impact on the Indianapolis community!

Thursday, January 11th

  1. MLK Day of Service Volunteer - Personal Hygiene Workshop at IPS 56   (Members Only) -  4:00 PM at IPS School 56 - 2353 Columbia Ave - Assist undergraduate members with providing a personal hygiene workshop to students at the school.

  2. MLK Day of Service Volunteer - AMO MealPacks   (Open to the Public) - 6:30 PM at Kindezi Academy - 3421 N Keystone Ave  - Members and Guests will pack backpacks with breakfast and lunch meal options for families at Kindezi Academy in order to provide meals for January 15th when students will be out of school. 

Friday, January 12th 

  1. MLK Day of Service Volunteer - Personal Hygiene Workshop at Kindezi Academy (Members Only) - 2:00 PM at Kindezi Academy - 3241 N Keystone Ave  -  Assist undergraduate members with providing a personal hygiene workshop to students at the school.

Monday, January 15th

  1. MLK Day of Service Volunteer - No-Sew Scarf Workshop with AMO and Jack & Jill  (Members Only) - 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Volunteer Opportunities for Members Only) - Community Healthplex  - 3660 Guion Rd - Members will assist youth with making no-sew scarves which will be distributed to those in need.

  2. MLK Day of Service Volunteer - "Living the Dream" MLK Program with Omega Psi Phi and Meridian Lodge #33 - (Volunteer Opportunities for Members Only) 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Trinity CME Church - 2253 Dr. Andrew J. Brown Ave.  - Program will feature speakers focused on helping to build a positive legacy, a backpack distribution, and lunch will be provided.    

    If you are interested in having your child attend the program, please register HERE (doors open for the program at 10:00 AM)

  3. MLK Day of Service Volunteer - Packing Lunches with #HashtagLunchbag Indy (Open to the Public) - 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Kindezi Academy - 3421 N Keystone Ave.

         Alpha Mu Omega Youth Program Participants - submit an email to programs@akaamo.org indicating your intention to
         participate.  Your guests must utilize the Guest Registration above.

  4. MLK Day of Service Volunteer - Distributing Lunches to the Homeless with #HashtagLunchbag Indy  (Open to the Public) - 2:00 PM until complete - Starting at Kindezi Academy - 3421 N Keystone Ave.
